About Us

Dykes on Bikes Melbourne is an incorporated association for lesbian motorcyclists, operating as a not for profit organisation registered with Consumer Affairs Victoria. Our mission is to provide an informal, not for profit club for lesbian women who ride motorcycles.

Dykes on Bikes Melbourne Inc was formed on 25th June 2011. We are a chapter of San Francisco Dykes on Bikes Women’s Motorcycle Contingent (SFDOBWMC) receiving approval of our affiliation in August 2011. The “San Fran patch” is proudly worn by full members after qualifying by attending a number of rides & meetings.

You will find us every year at the front of Pride March Victoria in St Kilda. 2015 marks the 20th anniversary of PMV and Dykes on Bikes has been there to lead every one of them.
Since 2011 DoBM Inc members have attended ChillOut Festival in Daylesford, Sydney Mardi Gras, Brisbane Pride March, Adelaide Pride March, San Francisco Pride March, San Francisco Dyke March, San Francisco Trans March, San Diego Pride March, Brooklyn Pride March, Brighton UK Pride March, Reykjavik Pride March, Hamburg Pride March, Berlin Pride and Dyke March.

We welcome all lesbian identifying women from all nationalities, religions and backgrounds. We have members from Egypt, Singapore, New Zealand, Turkey, Canada, Germany and Lebanese to name a few. We welcome all ages 18 and over. Dykes on Bikes Melbourne is a safe space for all of us.

All types of bikes and scooters are welcome and all skill levels of riders. Whether you ride a scooter or a chopper, you are welcome to ride with us. No one gets left behind! We have a buddy system in place for learner and less experienced riders to help build their confidence.

We hold and attend monthly rides, cafe meet and greets, monthly meetings, weekenders, day rides, night rides, interstate trips, international trips, social events, fundraisers, pride marches, charity rides, winery tours, pool hall days, lawn bowls, paintball, BBQ’s, and much more.

Being an official chapter of San Francisco Dykes on Bikes, core to our annual activities are a range of charity events. DoBM Inc have raised funds for numerous Victorian based organisations including Pride March Victoria, Bent TV, Minus 18, Midsumma Festival, RSPCA, Royal Children’s Hospital, Righteous Pups and most recently donating $2100 to Switchboard Victoria.

Every year we support many charity rides including the annual Geelong and Melbourne Pink Ribbon Rides, White Ribbon ride, Brown Ribbon Ride, BACA – 100 mile ride, Black Dog Ride and various Toy Runs around Victoria.

Every year we run our ‘Pillions for Pride’ raffle, raffling off a ride in Melbourne’s Pride March. Since our inaugural raffle in 2015 we have raised approx $10k and donated all proceeds to various Victorian LGBTIQ organisations including Midsumma, Australian Lesbian & Gay Archives, Way Out, Joy94.9, Minus18 and Thorne Harbour Health.
