Meet Bec

Name: Bec

Member since: May 2018

What are your pronouns? She/her

Ride: Honda Rebel CMX 500 and a Royal Enfield Continental GT 650

Riding since: Grew up riding dirt bikes on the farm back in NZ but never got around to getting my licence until December 2018.

Loves: My whanau/tribe, fur babies, travel, riding and being part of our LGBTIQ+ community

Hates: Greed and selfishness. People who cut you off on the road.

Who inspires you? My mum. I miss her every second.

Tell us something about you that no one would know: Never had a bleeding nose.

Where are your favourite places in the world? Paris, Rome and New Zealand. I also love riding my bike in the country areas and at night.

Tell us how you first got involved in with DOBM? Being such an icon in our community we have all seen the opening of parades, the revving of the engines and the joy it brings to those riding and watching. I never thought I would be part of such an amazing group and its legacy. I met the club President and we started chatting about our love of riding, she encouraged me and friends to join and as they say, the rest is history

What is so empowering about riding a motorcycle? And How does riding transform other areas of your life? Being so completely focussed but relaxed at the same time; the awareness of everything around you is heightened unlike any other experience. There is a feeling of strength and independence riding gives you; you feel like you could do anything. Riding is a form of meditation for me and it has transformed my life by enabling that sense of self, refocusing and perspective. Feel more, live more, love more. Makes life’s troubles seem less important.

Which pride parade would you love to ride in? I’ve had a bucket list for a while to attend as many pride marches around the world. Now it will be to ride them!

What are you passionate about? Living life to the fullest, how you want to live it (not what others think you should do).

If you could change one thing about the world, what would it be? Greed. It drives everything that is wrong in the world, the desire for power, consuming and destroying everything.

What is your dream bike? I’m undecided and will know when I see her. Something big and beefy
